MSC Magnifica to Sail from Southampton in 2021

September 2019

Southampton is the UK's largest cruise port and plays host to some of the largest cruise ships in the world. Whether you have sailed from Britain's premier port or not, 2021 brings a whole new reason to travel to this historic city.

MSC Cruises are planning to set MSC Magnifica to task with 24 sailings in its summer 2021 season. This also comes with a refurbishment and a 23-metre extension to the middle of the ship. So here are some of the things you can expect from MSC Magnifica when she revisits the UK.

Extension/Renovation

As mentioned before, she will gain an additional 23 metres on top of the monumental 293m she already has. And, while this enlargement might not sound like a lot, the total area across the decks will result in 7,000m2 of extra space. The added room will become the new home for 215 extra cabins, a water park, a redesigned kid's area, two additional restaurants and a stylish shopping area.

This isn't the only change that she will be receiving, with heavy refurbishment planned as well to bring her up to the modern amenities. Each area will encompass what MSC Cruises is about, highlighting the glitz and glamour you would expect from a high-end hotel.

Itinerary Destinations

After completing her makeover in April, MSC Magnifica will sail various itineraries from the UK before wrapping up her season in October. Her most notable sailings include 14-night trips around the Canary Islands and Madeira, the Mediterranean, Northern Europe and the iconic capitals of the Baltic.

All these sailings will be mixed with alternative options for guests who would prefer to see the spectacular Norwegian Fjords. Amongst these four sailings, two new destinations are Denmark's Skagen and Norway's Roendal, home to the country's largest fjord.

Finally, for any guests who are looking to experience a little of what MSC Cruises is all about, there is a three-night mini-cruise sailing during the May Bank Holiday, visiting Bruges for a day before returning to the UK. For any first-time cruisers or new to MSC guests, this is a perfect opportunity to see whether they are right for you or not.

Who are these cruises aimed at?

With the new changes to the vessel, these cruises are aimed at families and couples looking for anything from a short break or a two-week-long adventure. Plus, with the cruises going on sale on the 12th September 2019, now is the perfect time to create your dream holiday.
