With temperatures sitting at around 20°C, guests can relax on the black-sand beaches and snorkel within the blue lagoons that surround the island. Head into small towns in search of the perfect bar or seek the finest cuisine that the Canaries have to offer. Hiking trails can also be a good way to rejuvenate, see natural spectacles and find hidden gems that are off the beaten track.

Learn About The Culture

There are a number of ways you can learn about the historic culture of La Gomera, from the ancient whistling language of Silbo Gomero to the festivals that are held here each year. The island's festival season starts on 2nd December and lasts up until 5th January, with events including theatre plays, live music and markets from to purchase Canarian souvenirs. As you walk the streets, locals will great you, dressed in authentic clothes and celebrating with festive cheer. In the evenings, you can expect more singing and dancing in the streets with plenty of chance to grab yourself a Canarian beer.

Stargazing

Many travellers that come to the islands don't know that La Gomera is one of the best destinations from around the world to see the sparkling night's sky. Also, travelling in winter means that you will have a better chance of seeing natural phenomena with the naked eye. In La Gomera, the quality of the stargazing is better as there is a low level of light pollution. This has been confirmed by other IAC observatories that are around the Canary Islands. To observe a large number of constellations, you will need to be near the peaks of the island, like the hills of Garajonay National Park or the Las Nieves recreation area - both can be easily reached by car. The most common constellations that you can admire include Gemini, Auriga, Sagittarius and Scorpio.
