Saarbrücken Christmas Market

Located in the 1,000-year-old city of Saarbrücken, the Saarbrücken Christmas Markets are situated in the middle of the scenic Saar-Lor-Lux region, with picturesque lanes, courtyards, charming little bistros and a huge selection of fine restaurants, all boasting a welcoming French flair. The town's beautiful Christmas market is set on the pretty St. Johanner Markt square, providing over 80 festively decorated huts that sell typical Christmas articles and mouth-watering culinary delights. Special attractions include a traditional alpine hut, a grand Advent wreath, the bell tower and life-sized Christmas characters. Another highlight of the market is the spectacular 9 metre tall, hand crafted Christmas pyramid.

The Saarbrücken Christmas Market is located in one of the region's most popular shopping streets. The 'Bahnhofstrasse' is a busy shopping mecca with around 80 specially decorated festive stalls all selling an array of culinary delights and festive ornaments. Saarbrücken is famous for its tradition and is considered to be one of Germany's most historical cities. There is plenty to entertain adults and children alike, from a traditional puppet theatre performance to Father Christmas descending on the market to tell the story of his most famous reindeer - Rudolph.

On the first Advent weekend of every year the Old Saarbrücken Christmas Market is  held in the presence of the beautiful Saarbrücker Schloss stately home. Here you will find over 200 festively decorated stalls, with vendors providing some special for the Christmas season, and mostly representing local clubs and non-profit organisations.

The markets attract visitors from the surrounding cities such as holidaymakers on Frankfurt and Bonn city breaks.
