Stuttgart Christmas Market

Dating back to 1692, the Stuttgart Christmas Markets are some of the oldest and largest in Europe. More than 200 beautifully decorated wooden stalls welcome visitors with their twinkling Christmas lights. The scent of cinnamon and mulled wine is in the air and the sound of Christmas carols add to the magical festive flair. There are many accommodation options available throughout the city, each offering a unique atmosphere.

Every year, Advent transforms the city into a glittering Christmas wonderland, with the highlight being Stuttgart´s main Christmas market. There is an impressive array of twinkling illuminations, small wooden houses lovingly decorated with angelic figures and fir branches laden with baubles.

The 'Wintertraum' winter wonderland on the Schlossplatz forms a fabulous backdrop and creates an enchanting medieval Christmas atmosphere, accompanied by the scent of cinnamon, candied almonds, mulled wine and the sound of Christmas carols, adding to the festive flair. The Stuttgart Christmas Market is located in the fairy tale setting of the Schlossplatz, creating an enchanting atmosphere which fills millions of visitors with festive cheer every year. Combine the magical experience with a visit to one of the city´s many cultural sites. The spectacular Art Museum and the State Gallery with its first-class exhibitions offer a welcome break from the hustle and bustle of the markets. The Mercedes-Benz Museum and the Porsche Museum are certainly not to be missed either.

In the evening, you may be tempted to attend a performance at the Stuttgart Opera House with the famous Stuttgart Ballet or the internationally renowned State Opera, which has been voted 'Opera House of the Year' several times.

With its elegant shopping arcades, exclusive boutiques, large department stores and the longest pedestrian zone in Germany, Stuttgart is also a paradise or shopping lovers.
