Zythos is the beer drinkers’ society of Belgium and they certainly know how to organise an amazing festival. Held in Leuven, a city just outside of Brussels, the festival provides a unique opportunity to sample up to 500 beers from more than 80 different stands. Kickstart your experience by purchasing a starter pack at the door for €9. This includes one of the specially designed 10cl taster glasses (about the size of three UK shots) and five tokens that can be used at any of the beer stalls. Extra tokens are available at €1 each and at the end of the day you can either keep your glass as a souvenir or return to receive €2 back.
It is the distinct party atmosphere that makes the Zythos Beer Festival a truly unique event for groups of travellers from around the world and you even have the power to help decide the best beer of the weekend. Each visitor can vote for their favourite three beers and then the one with the most votes is awarded the consumer trophy.
