I recently spent 15 nights exploring the west coast of America and Hawaii, spending time in San Francisco, Monterey, Santa Barbara, Newport Beach, San Diego, Santa Monica & Los Angeles and Honolulu, Hawaii.
Starting with a two night stay in San Francisco, we travelled across the Golden Gate Bridge to Muir Woods and Sausalito. And of course a trip to San Fran is never complete without a ferry ride to Alcatraz. On a gloomy and foggy morning Alcatraz appeared out of nowhere which only added to the eeriness of this visit.
Driving the Coastal Highway 1 was unbelievable, the winding bends passing the Big Sur, Seal Beach and its iconic bridges. With vista points scattered throughout the journey, there are multiple picture perfect moments and taking the time to enjoy these was a must.
From city to beach and everything in between. A stop in the fishing town of Monterey complemented the hustle and bustle of LA, a relaxing walk along the Laguna Beach coast and a visit to San Diego Zoo. With such an array of activities and sights this was a journey to remember.
And, after this fascinating journey, and a flight to Honolulu, the opportunity to relax on Waikiki beach, snorkel at Hanauma Bay and a quick visit to the Hawaii 5-O HQ, was the perfect way to end any holiday.
