Recently I was fortunate to be able to sample Queen Mary 2 on a 2-night cruise to Hamburg.
I was allocated a BV balcony (sheltered balcony) stateroom, number 6070 on deck 6. It was roomy and adequate for two adults.
My sea day was spent exploring the ship. A good choice of eateries and bars are located around the ship. I particularly enjoyed the cocktail bar in the Pavillion pool area on Deck 12. I also discovered several small lounges and rooms tucked away.
Overall, I found the quality of the food to be of the expected high standard. I ate in the Britannia restaurant (dinner and breakfast), Kings Court and the specialist Asian fusion pop-up, Lotus. There is a good choice of bars including the Golden Lion pub to cocktail lounges. Throughout the voyage I found the staff to be attentive, courteous and helpful.
The entertainment was of high standard and varied and available in several locations around the ship.
The style, decor and furnishings were to the standard I had expected. Queen Mary 2 is tasteful and true to the heritage of the Cunard brand. There is a great sense of 'Britishness' all around - from the murals in the Winter Garden depicting British country scenes to the Royal artworks in the Queen's Room dedicated to the Three Queens. Even to the odd pub quiz and game of bingo!
I thoroughly enjoyed my Cunard experience. Two nights is ideal to get a taste of life on board but why not consider one of the 20+ Trans-Atlantic crossings a year. You can indulge yourself in the history, tradition, food and service of probably the world's best known cruise line.
