Shamwari Safari

8
October 2016

A Safari is commonly a bucket list choice however I travelled to South Africa under a different circumstance, my partner’ grandfather passed away and he always told her that outside of Suffolk this is where he would like to live, so we had to go and I must say what a magnificent place.

After spending two nights in Cape Town we embarked on a 4-night safari at the luxurious Shamwari Game Reserve.  As Shamwari is a private game reserve, not only did they take care of when and where we went, they also took time to explain the flora and fauna surrounding the wildlife. This only added to the experience and of course the opportunity to see the ‘Big-5’ (and we did) was amazing.

During the game drives our driver took us in search of the animals we wanted to see, taking the time and care to explore the reserve and I couldn’t believe how close some of the animal came, as you can see from the pictures.

In between game drives we were able to relax at our accommodation (Eagles Crag) which again was magnificent. A private plunge pool, secluded lodge and full board cuisine, you couldn’t ask for a more memorable experience.
