On arrival into Naples, we took a short journey to Amalfi where we began our holiday. Using the local coastal bus service which acts as more of a hop on hop off bus option (single journey, day tickets or multi-day tickets can be purchased locally), during our extended stay in Amalfi we also visited Ravello, Atrani, Minori and Maiori combining sightseeing stops with lunches by the beach.
Next on our trip was the picturesque Positano. For those travelling independently, a tip is to pack light if like us you are arriving by bus and leaving by ferry as the walk up and down the hill side can get a little tiring in the sun when carrying too much luggage. With our hotel located at the top, we had some fantastic views of the iconic coast line along with the opportunity to explore the narrow streets lined with boutiques, café shops and restaurants.
Using the ferry service from Positano, our next stop was Capri. We decided to plan our stay near to the harbour area which allowed for a pleasant mix of relaxation by the sea, and only a short funicular ride away, the historic square surrounded by cafes, shops and restaurants to explore, and of course not to forget the amazing views.
After only a short stay in Capri, we took the ferry to Sorrento, our final stop before returning home. With views across the Bay of Naples and narrow alleys filled with shops offering all sorts of items, this was a lovely end to our journey.
