The captivating riverside town of Königswinter is located on the opposite bank to nearby Bonn. With a lively Old Town and one of the most beautiful promenades along the Rhine, this village of winegrowers is a popular destination for visitors from all over the world. The town boasts a dramatic backdrop with the imposing Drachenfels looming in the distance, a mountain shrouded in myth and legend. Take a ride along Germany's oldest railway up to this Gothic castle and, at the summit, gaze out over the idyllic scenery.
If you are looking for more beautiful scenery in this part of the world, we also have lake and mountain holidays in Boppard and Koblenz available.
The Drachenfels is a ruin on one of the highest hills of the Siebengebirge, Germany's oldest nature reserve along the River Rhine.
Königswinter's huge Sea Life Aquarium features 3,000 creatures from the sea. The biggest pool has a glass tunnel that enables you to walk on the "bottom of the sea."
