People have been arriving to bathe in the water at Bad Homburg for more than 200 years. Today, there are no less than seven different spas being supplied by eight mineral springs that bubble up from below the streets. The largest complex can be found at Kur-Royal Day Spa, situated within the lush landscapes of the Kurpark. It is said that Kaiser Wilhelm himself (former German emperor) bathed here and helped to spread the word about the restorative nature of the thermal water in Bad Homburg.
The Kurpark is a pleasant place to explore, even if you don’t take advantage of the spa facilities on offer. Numerous paths weave their way around streams and lakes to create a romantic environment that also hosts monuments, restaurants and a golf course.
Across the city, the Schlosspark is another leafy area that’s worth discovering. Here, you’ll find a grand Baroque palace and a medieval tower that presents another example of the royal history found in Bad Homburg – a beautiful destination just outside of Frankfurt.
