Le Mont Dore is a commune located in the Massif Central, on the bank of the Dordogne River, central France. This town has 12 thermal springs that are rich in Sodium Bicarbonate and iron and are used for both drinking and bathing. These thermal springs were known to the Romans and are said to be effective in relieving tuberculosis, bronchitis and asthma.
The main thermal station in Mont Dore is Chaine Thermale Du Soleil, which is located in the city centre. This spa offers two types of service, Standard and Premier. The Standard Service allows you to use mobilisation pools, bath cabins, steam showers and more, whereas the Premier Service gives you access to the Standard Services and the large thermal water pool, herbal tea room and fitness area. A free spa shuttle is also available from the complex.
After relaxing in the spa, why not take a trip on the Capucin Funicular, the oldest electric funicular in France. It’ll take you on a 10-minute ride up the hill to the engine room and various hiking trails.
