EU Eco-Management and Audit Scheme (EMAS) and ISO 14001certification is proof of how Hotel Jardín Tecina has set out, documented and implemented, with continuous upkeep and improvement, its Environmental Management System in compliance with the ISO 14001:2004 standard.
Our actions are guided by our Environmental Statement, which sets out the environmental management of resources and our commitment to achieve harmony between our activity and the environment.
We have reduced our carbon footprint considerably since 2014.
This tool allows us to calculate the environmental impact of our activity, measuring energy use and determining our CO2 emissions into the atmosphere. We are currently in the process of registering the hotel’s carbon footprint with the Spanish Climate Change Office.
Other Acknowledgements and Achievements
- Recognition with silver status by the TripAdvisor GreenLeaders programme for hotels and B&Bs that are committed to green practices and to making their guests’ stay a more eco-friendly experience.
- Travelife Gold Award: Travelife is a fair and reasonable system that allows hotels to demonstrate their commitment to sustainability and ethical employment. This certification makes it possible to work with leading operators such as TUI, Kuoni, Virgin Holidays and Cosmos, including their more than 50 travel brands. Hotel Jardín Tecina obtained the Bronze Award in 2010, the Silver Award in 2012, and the Gold Award for five years in a row (2014–2018-2020).
- In 2015, we obtained a green rating for the use of renewable energy from the energy company EGL – Ecoenérgetica de Canarias.
- Q for Tourist Quality is a quality certification for the Spanish tourism industry. It evidences the hotel’s commitment to achieve complete customer satisfaction and its commitment to continuous improvement based on direct communication with them.
- TUI Umwelt Champion (2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020): this acknowledgement is granted by the operator TUI to the 100 best hotels for their environmental management, social and environmental commitment, communications and staff training.
- Biosphere (2019, 2020): a certification granted by the Responsible Tourism Institute for complying with international sustainability requirements and the requirements of the Biosphere standard.
