After successfully entering the oceans on Monday 19th August 2019, out of well-known shipbuilders, Meyer Waft, Norwegian Encore has checked off its last milestone before being delivered to Norwegian Cruise Line on the 30th October 2019 and then christened on 21st November 2019 in Miami.
Boasting a 170,000 gross tonnage, guest capacity of 3,998 people and being the fourth and final Norwegian Breakaway Plus Class ship, she is expected to exceed her predecessor (Norwegian Bliss) that has already set high standards. So here are a few of the things that are awaiting your sailing on board Norwegian Encore.
A large part of the Norwegian Cruise Line experience is the dining venues. From classical restaurants to exotic foodie heavens, each vessel has pushed the boundaries of cruising with restaurants like Teppanyaki and Cagney's. Norwegian Encore has a new headline for cruisers; Onda by Scarpetta is a new-style Italian restaurant that infuses authentic dishes with newfound flavours. Bringing charm and elegance to the seas, Onda is the sister restaurant to the critically acclaimed Scarpetta in New York City.
Overall, there are nine speciality dining venues, five complimentary restaurants and one exclusive venue for haven guests. Some of these include Ocean Blue, Q steakhouse, The Manhattan Room and Taste.
Adding to the reasons why cruising on this vessel is a fantastic idea, the onboard activities encompass everything that Norwegian Encore is about, allowing you to experience it over and over again. Starting with the largest racetrack at sea, measuring at an enormous 1,100 feet, cruisers can suspend over 13 feet off the side of the ship as spectators can get involved by giving their favourite racer a boost of speed. This is not only the perfect opportunity for some friendly competition but also to see some stunning sea views in the heart of the Caribbean.
Second is the new laser tag venue which has also been dubbed 'the largest at sea' and is based on the lost city of Atlantis. With the use of cutting-edge technology and intricate design, guests can hop straight into the intergalactic battle of a lifetime, finding virtual long-lost treasures to help your team get that winning edge.
Finally, there are plenty of other options to keep you entertained during your cruise. From virtual reality warfare to multi-story waterslides, the whole family can get involved in a wealth of exhilarating activities. Plus, kids can get join one of three children's clubs ranging from toddlers to teenagers - there is no end to the excitement on board.
Norwegian Encore will feature two headlining shows, Tony award winner Kinky Boots and fan-favourite Choir of Man. With music and lyrics by famous American singer Cyndi Lauper, Kinky Boots follows the true story of Charlie Price who made an unlikely alliance with cabaret performing drag queen, Lola. Together they create a show-stopping range of high-heeled boots that launches both of their careers into stardom.
The Choir of Man takes guests on a different journey through music, hitting all of the high notes of pop-music to the low notes rock and roll classics. The choir consists of nine talented men who combine their singing skills to make some of the best music at sea, with one of the highest satisfaction rates in all of Norwegian Cruise Line entertainment history.
Lastly, Norwegian Encore is planning to sail through the Caribbean and Bermuda for the American market, but she does feature transatlantic sailings over the next couple of years.
